Starledger: Cranbury Delights: Baked goods with Old World flavor

Cranberry Town, as it was known during the Revolutionary War, was a popular resting place for soldiers marching between the Northern and Southern colonies.

Gen. George Washington and his troops made camp in Cranbury (there seems to be some dispute on when and how the name change took place) in June 1778. He met with the Marquis de Lafayette and Col. Alexander Hamilton in a local doctor’s house to plan the Battle of Monmouth, which was to become a turning point of the… Continue

Cranbury a waypoint for Bikers?

Cranbury NJ in the NY TIMES again this week though some in town may not like this article based on all the comments about motorcycles on the forum lately, read on.

EVEN when the days grow shorter and colder, the open road still beckons to motorcyclists. Weekend traffic is lighter, and heated gloves and jackets make it possible to venture out in comfort. A trip on scenic roads that in summer are clogged with motorists and other cyclists can be a serene exercise in… Continue

If any spot could be torn apart by the World Series, it would be the town of Cranbury, N.J.

As far back as Colonial days, its Cranbury Inn served as a popular halfway stop on the two- or three-day journey by stagecoach between New York and Philadelphia, and these days both Yankees and Phillies rooters can be found at the inn’s bar.

“We swing both ways here because we have so many connections to both,” said… Continue

More about Historic Cranbury House tour this Saturday 10/17 (Rain or Shine)

CRANBURY — With a historical home on nearly every corner, the Cranbury Historical and Preservation Society chose a new angle for this year’s Cranbury House Tours: houses and barns.

The event, scheduled for Oct. 17 between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., will feature six local historical homes, one of which is a converted barn.

Among the homes on the tour is a 2,500-square-foot, one-and-a-half-story, cottage-style home located on North Main Street that had undergone a relatively… Continue

Cranbury Coffee House - Acoustically Speaking

Next month the featured act at the Cranbury Coffee House will be Acoustic Road. They are a Princeton based duo who performs classic songs from the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's. They even sprinkle their performance with a few of today's hits. I hear they do a great version of Coldplay's "Viva La Vida". The opening act for this event will be Emily Gabriele, a South Brunswick resident and student at Rutgers University. Emily is a vocalist/guitarist who writes many of her own songs. Mark your… Continue
